What
is the business of Digital Women®?
Digital Women is an international network for women in business. Founded in 1998 in Aledo, Texas by graphic artist Rebecca Hubbard, Digital Women began as a site on the World Wide Web and was designed to provide business resources, small business loan information and support for businesswomen worldwide. The main key to a successful business startup or expansion is the ability to obtain and secure appropriate financing or funding through a small business loan, a government loan, (SBA), or non-government grants for those women unable to tap into their personal finances. Digital Women helps women entrepreneurs find this financing. Women Business Owners realize
that applying
for business funding or financing is a much more complicated process
than
applying for personal lines of credit or personal loans. Applying for
business
funding requires careful preparation and demands that you understand
the
loan or grant process and what it takes to qualify for a business loan.
Who Are Digital Women? DigitalWomen are women who are involved in the business world. While some Digital Women own and work in their own businesses, the group also welcomes women who are employed by others and have an interest in business issues. Digital Women are mothers, daughters, grandmothers, wives and sisters. The women range in age from 18 - 70 come from a wide range of backgrounds and have varied business, professional and personal interests. The one common denominator of Digital Women is that they all possess a desire to learn and share business information. They are also women who are tired of working for a paycheck that has little ability to get much bigger. They want to create a life where they are financially independent through their own efforts. What Does Digital Women Offer?
Just
in the past decade, the number of women-owned businesses has escalated,
and these businesses are just as, or even more, successful as those
owned
by men. Women seeking capital or funding to finance their small
business
ventures can apply for small business loans. Business loans and
non-government
grants or funding through a foundation are available for women starting
up small businesses or home businesses of all types.
The
Minority Pre-qualification Loan Program and the Women's
Pre-qualification
Loan Program use intermediaries to assist minority and women owned
small businesses in developing small business loan application packages
and helping to securing small business loans. The Women's
Pre-qualification
Loan Program uses only nonprofit organizations as intermediaries. The
Minority
Pre-qualification Loan Program uses for-profit intermediaries as well.
